San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan Supports John Pimentel

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan highlights John Pimentel’s record of accountability as a trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District. Mahan specifically points to the District’s recovery of more than $20 million for taxpayers through civil litigation and says that record informs his support for Pimentel’s candidacy for the California Board of Equalization. The San Mateo County Community College District reported in June 2026 that total recoveries across the defendants in the litigation exceeded $20 million. 

Mahan describes accountability as central to the kind of leadership he wants to see in elected office and says he believes Pimentel would bring that approach to the Board of Equalization.
